ISLAMABAD: Another resolution to postpone the general elections tabled in the Senate, Senator Hidayatullah Khan from FATA submitted the resolution to postpone the election for three months in the Senate Secretariat.

In the resolution submitted by Senator Hidayatullah, it is said that the House is concerned about the targeting of election hopefuls. terrorist  attacks took place in North Waziristan, Bajaur, Swabi and Turbat. An elderly politician contesting the election was injured and a candidate was killed. 

The resolution stated that an atmosphere of fear and insecurity has been created in the country, distribution of threatening pamphlets at candidates’ residences and offices is a challenge for security agencies. The Constitution emphasizes the protection and unhindered participation of all stakeholders.

In the resolution submitted in the Senate Secretariat, it was appealed that the protection of life and property of the people is the primary responsibility of the state, the peaceful conduct of the elections should be considered, and the general elections should be postponed for three months. The government should create such conditions that all political parties get a level playing field. Security concerns should be removed, freedom from threats should be guaranteed.

It should be noted that a few days ago, the Senate passed a resolution to postpone the general elections to be held on February 8 in the country by majority vote.
