Apex Committee Meeting To Discuss Security Matters In Tribal Elections Held

PESHAWAR: Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Shah Farman has said that holding up of fair and transparent elections is the preferential responsibility of the provincial government.

An apex committee meeting was held in the Chair of Governor KP Shah Farman attended by Chief Minister KP, Mahmood Khan, Chief Secretary KP, Saleem Khan, Corps Commander Peshawar Lieutenant General Shaheen Mazhar Mahmood, Inspector General IG police Muhammad Naeem, secretary home department including other civil and military personnel.

According to the apex committee, all the civil and military security institutions are fully prepared to hold fair and transparent provincial assembly elections in the tribal areas.

The meeting reviewed security matters during the holding up of elections of the provincial assembly seats in the tribal areas in details.

As per the apex committee as many as 34, 497 security personnel of army, police, khasadar, levis and FC have been deployed while 1897 poling stations have been set up where 2.8 million voters will cast their votes.

The apex committee has also directed all the deputy commissioners, DPOs to ban aerial firing after winning elections by the members of various parties.
