Army, Rangers deployment sought for HBL PSL X security in Punjab

Lahore: The Punjab Home Department has requested the deployment of Pakistan Army and Rangers units to provide security for HBL Pakistan Super League (PSL) in cities of the province.

For Lahore, Rawalpindi, and Multan, one wing of Rangers and two companies of the Pakistan Army have been requested for each location.

Additionally, services of Special Services Group (SSG) commandos and Army Aviation helicopters have also been requested at all three venues.

The matches of the 10th edition of the HBL Pakistan Super League are scheduled to take place from 11 April to May 18.

Foolproof security arrangements will be in place during matches, team accommodations, and travel in Lahore, Rawalpindi, and Multan.

The provincial government has also requested the deployment of Pakistan Army and Rangers personnel for the security of the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup Qualifier.

The ICC Women’s World Cup qualifying matches are scheduled to take place in Lahore. Six women’s teams are participating in the World Cup Qualifier tournament.The participating teams include Pakistan, Bangladesh, Scotland, Ireland, West Indies, and Thailand.

The Punjab Home Department has formally submitted a request to the Federal Ministry of Interior for the deployment of Army and Rangers personnel.
