ISLAMABAD: Pakistan has secured a notable victory at the Asian Cricket Council meeting in Bangkok, with the panel backed by Pakistan winning all three seats in the ACC director elections.
The ACC meeting was chaired by ACC President Mohsin Naqvi, while Rajeev Shukla represented India. The three director positions were contested in a closely fought election.
According to reports, the Pakistan-backed panel emerged victorious in all three contests, completing a clean sweep over the India-backed candidates. The outcome gives Pakistan a strong result in the regional cricket body at a time when the ACC is preparing for several important tournaments and administrative decisions.
The Bangkok meeting also covered other ACC matters, including financial issues and preparations for upcoming competitions. Officials discussed the Women’s Asia Cup as well as planning for the 2027 Men’s Asia Cup, which is scheduled to be hosted by Bangladesh.
