LAHORE: An anti-terrorism court (ATC) on Saturday extended the judicial remand of a woman accused of spreading fake news about a rape incident at a private college in Lahore.
The suspect, Sara Khan, had impersonated the alleged victim’s mother in an attempt to spread the false story.
The police presented Sara Khan in court after her previous remand ended. The court granted an additional 14-day remand, placing her in police custody for further investigation.
During the previous hearing, the court was informed that one mobile phone had been recovered from the suspect, while authorities were still searching for additional evidence. The investigation officer also revealed that voice matching and photogrammetric tests had been conducted to verify the authenticity of videos shared by the suspect.
