RAWALPINDI: Anti-terrorism court (ATC) in Rawalpindi issued a seventh non-bailable arrest warrant for Aleema Khan, the sister of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan, in connection with the November 26 protest case.
Presided over by ATC Judge Amjad Ali Shah, the hearing took place without Aleema Khan or her legal team appearing in court once again.
The case involves a protest registered at the Sadiqabad Police Station, naming 11 accused individuals, including Aleema Khan. Due to her continued absence, the court reissued a non-bailable arrest warrant and directed authorities to ensure her immediate arrest. Additionally, the court reviewed a report regarding the freezing of her bank accounts.
The report indicated that Aleema Khan holds multiple bank accounts, some associated with welfare organizations such as Namal University. The court also issued notices to banks that have yet to comply with earlier instructions to submit reports on her accounts.
Furthermore, the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) had previously informed the court that her national identity card and passport had been blocked, adhering to judicial orders.
During the proceedings, ten other accused individuals and several prosecution witnesses, along with Special Prosecutor Zaheer Shah and his team, were present in court. Meanwhile, the court took action against another accused, Arif Khan, ordering his imprisonment after he failed to submit surety bonds for a vehicle used during the protest.
The hearing was adjourned until November 6, with law enforcement agencies instructed to provide an implementation report on Aleema Khan’s arrest by the next session.
