ATC Lahore extends Aleema, Uzma Khanum’s interim bail until April 16 in PTI protest case

LAHORE: The Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) Lahore has prolonged the interim bail of Aleema Khanum and Uzma Khanum until April 16 in connection with a case arising from police violence during a PTI protest held on October 5.

The hearing was presided over by Judge Arshad Javed. Neither sister appeared in person, as their lawyers requested a one-day exemption, stating that they were attending court proceedings in Islamabad.

The prosecution alleges that Aleema and Uzma Khanum encouraged party workers to take part in violent actions, during which police personnel were assaulted and vehicles damaged on October 5.

The sisters had previously been granted interim bail in a case registered at Shafiqabad Police Station. Their lawyers argued that both women were not present in Lahore during the incidents and were implicated only because of their political association with PTI.

The court directed the prosecutor to finalize arguments on the bail matter and, after considering the lawyers’ submissions, allowed the interim bail to continue until the next hearing.
