ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Atta Tarar has emphasized that while digital media brings numerous benefits, it is crucial to regulate it effectively to prevent misuse.
During a seminar focused on media and information warfare, Tarar pointed out that the contest with India extends beyond physical borders to a battle of narratives. He noted that Pakistan has now developed multiple digital platforms to effectively communicate its viewpoints on international and regional issues.
“We were well-prepared for the information phase of the conflict,” he remarked, adding that the government responded promptly to ensure the dissemination of accurate information to the public.
The minister also highlighted the significant role digital media played during the Afghanistan conflict, stressing that the flow of information and online engagement have become vital components in contemporary warfare.
