WEB DESK: In Bajaur’s Salarzai tehsil, within the Tangi region, a polio team came under attack during an ongoing anti-polio campaign. The attack claimed the life of a police officer assigned to secure the team and a civilian. The fallen officer was identified as Sajjad.
District Police Officer (DPO) Waqas Rafiq confirmed the incident, stating that a significant contingent of security personnel had been deployed to the area, and operations were underway to apprehend the attackers.
Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif has strongly condemned the terrorist attack on the polio team in Bajaur. He expressed deep sorrow over the loss of the police officer who sacrificed his life protecting the team. The prime minister prayed for the forgiveness of the martyrs and extended his condolences to their families.
Additionally, the prime minister reaffirmed the government’s commitment to eradicating polio from the country, vowing that the efforts would continue with unwavering determination.
