KARACHI: In an effort to promote cleanliness, hygiene, and environmental awareness, visually engaging wall messages have been painted in the marginalized area of Karnal Welfare Colony, Karachi. These paintings highlight key messages on tree plantation, proper waste disposal methods, social harmony, and community participation. The initiative has been widely appreciated by local residents.
This activity is a collaborative effort between the Karachi Water and Sewerage Services Improvement Project (KWSSIP) and the National Rural Support Programme (NRSP), aimed at fostering positive behavioral change regarding sanitation and hygiene in the community.
On Friday evening, as the painting process was completed, numerous community members gathered to express their views. Residents praised KWSSIP and NRSP for this initiative, calling it an effective step toward encouraging positive behavioral changes. They emphasized that such activities are essential in Welfare Colony, as these messages serve as constant reminders for residents to maintain cleanliness in their surroundings.
Community members also expressed their desire to see such awareness campaigns expanded across the area, ensuring that every individual recognizes the importance of a healthy environment—not just for themselves, but for their children and future generations.
