Azam Khan fine by PCB for sticking Palestinian flag sticker on bat

Cricket fans expressed their anger over the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on social media over the decision to fine Azam Khan for supporting Palestine

After the attack of Hamas on Israel on October 7, in response to the bombing of Palestinian territories by the Israeli army, huge number of civilian deaths, some celebrities and athletes from different countries of the world expressed their support for Palestine on social media.

But as a result of the support, many showbiz actors and sports persons have faced reprimands as well as punishments such as suspensions and cancellation of contracts.

The latest addition to the list is Pakistani cricketer Azam Khan, who has been fined by the Pakistan Cricket Board for displaying a Palestinian flag sticker on his bat during a national cricket league in Pakistan.

Batsman Azam Khan has been fined 50% of his match fee for stick the Palestinian flag on his bat in the national T20 tournament.

It should be noted that under the rules and regulations of the International Cricket Council (ICC), unapproved stickers, especially stickers based on religious and political messages, cannot be displayed on players’ kit or equipment during the match. While PCB is bound to follow the ICC rules in such matters.

Alia Rashid, director of media and communication at the PCB, confirmed that Azam Khan was not only fined 50% of the match fee, but was also cautioned for this violation in previous matches.
