Azhar Ali Secures 6th Position in ICC Test Rankings

Web Desk (August 1, 2017): Pakistan opener Azhar Ali climbs to number six position in the new ICC Test Batsmen rankings released by the cricket governing body.

The Test Player Azhar Ali acquired two positions to reach the 6th position with 769 points and average of 46.86 in the latest rankings, while he is now ahead of Australia batsman David Warner and behind India captain Virat Kohli.

Ravindra Jadeja maintained pole position in the bowlers’ list while India skipper Virat Kohli remained static at fifth place in the batting charts in the latest ICC Test Rankings

All-rounder England player Ben Stokes climbed to take his career-best positions in both batting and bowling after performing well in the third Test against South Africa at The Oval, which his side won by 239 runs on Monday to take a 2-1 lead in the four-match series.

Stokes jumped 12 places to joint-25th position in the Batsmen rankings, while also gaining two places to reach 19th spot in the Bowlers rankings. His performance also saw him surpass South Africa’s Vernon Philander to claim fifth place in the list of all-rounders.

The batting list is being topped by Australia captain Steve Smith followed by England’s Joe Root and New Zealand’s Kane Williamson.

In the bowlers’ chart, Ravichandran Ashwin displaced Sri Lankan Rangana Herath to claim the second spot back. Herath is third in the rankings. Pacer Mohammed Shami gained a place to be 23rd.

Sri Lanka’s Angelo Mathews gained two places to reach 17th, while Nuwan Pradeep and Dimuth Karunaratne both moved three places to reach 30th and 36th spot in the bowlers’ and batsmen’s rankings respectively.
