Babar Awan, Ashraf Summoned In Nandipur Project on Sep 18

Islamabad (September 05, 2018): An accountability court on Wednesday summoned former advisor to Prime Minister (PM) on parliamentary affairs Babar Awan, former prime minister Raja Pervez Ashraf and five others in reference pertaining to Nandipur power project.

The hearing of the case held in Islamabad accountability court.

The reference was filed by National Accountability Bureau (NAB) over alleged delay in the project inflicting whooping Rs27 bn loss to national exchequer.AC has also ordered former secretary law Masood Chishti and Riaz Kiyani to appear before the court on the same day.

The hearing of the case will be resumed on Sept 18 as AC judge Arshad Malk will hear the case.

Earlier, Babar Awan tendered resignation from his post after the NAB filed a reference against him in the accountability court over Nandipur Power Project scam.

In his resignation to Prime Minister Imran Khan, the PTI leader said that he has resigned from his post to prove the allegations against him are baseless.

Babar Awan stated that the rule of law should begin from him, adding that he is not one of those who stick to their positions.

Earlier, Hours after the filing of reference by National Accountability Bureau (NAB) in Nandipur project delayed Babar Awan has tendered resignation as Advisor to Prime Minister on Parliamentary Affair.

In his hand written resignation, Babar Awan says, “I am resigning as advisor to PM so as to prove baseless allegations of NAB wrong.”

Earlier, the National Accountability Bureau o filed a corruption reference against former minister for law and justice Babar Awan regarding a delay in Nandipur Project in Accountability Courts Islamabad.Awan serves as the adviser to the prime minister on parliamentary affairs.

The former federal minister for water and power Raja Pervaiz Ashraf, along with other officers of the ministry, also faces a corruption reference for the delay in Nandipur Project.
