Pakistan’s captain Babar Azam achieves the distinction of becoming the highest run scorer in the first 100 ODI innings, accumulating 5142 runs, while also leading the ICC’s ODI batting ranking.

Babar Azam, Pakistan’s captain, continues his streak of accomplishments, with his latest achievement being the title of the highest run scorer in the first 100 ODI innings. He secured this distinction by accumulating 5142 runs in the format. This prolific cricketer, leading the ICC’s ODI batters ranking, reached this milestone during the second match against Afghanistan in Hambantota on August 24, where he marked his 27th half-century. This accolade was previously held by Hashim Amla of South Africa with 4946 runs, while Sir Vivian Richards is in third place with 4607 runs.

In May, the 28-year-old became the quickest player to achieve 5000 ODI runs, accomplishing this feat in just 97 innings. Babar holds the distinction of being the first batter to achieve this milestone in less than 100 innings and is the 14th to cross the 5000-run mark. Presently, Pakistan ranks second in the ODI team rankings. Under Babar’s captaincy, the team briefly claimed the top spot in the rankings after successfully defending a target of 334 runs against New Zealand. However, a single loss in the series led to losing that position.
