WEB DESK: Babar Azam looked visibly upset when teammate Steve Smith opted against taking a single on the final delivery of an over during the Big Bash League (BBL) 15 match between Sydney Sixers and Sydney Thunder at the SCG.
In a video shared online, Babar showed frustration as Smith declined the quick single in the 11th over after Babar faced three dot balls and wanted to rotate the strike.
Commentators noted Babar’s reaction and speculated that Smith aimed to accelerate in the next over. Smith delivered, smashing consecutive sixes and a four off a no-ball in the following over, collecting 32 runs and shifting momentum to the Sixers.
The Sixers secured a five-wicket win, with Smith scoring a blistering 42-ball century and Babar contributing 47 off 39 balls. Earlier, Thunder posted 189-6, led by David Warner’s unbeaten 110 off 65 balls.
