KARACHI: Pakistan’s top batsman Babar Azam has set a new record in T20 cricket. Playing for Peshawar Zalmi in the Pakistan Super League (PSL), Babar became the quickest to reach 12,000 runs in T20 format.
He achieved this feat during a match versus Karachi Kings, taking only 338 innings to reach the milestone. Babar surpassed the previous record held by West Indies legend Chris Gayle, who took 345 innings to score 12,000 runs.
Previously, cricket icons Virat Kohli and David Warner had reached this mark in 360 and 368 innings respectively.
Additionally, Babar Azam is now the second Pakistani cricketer to hit the 12,000-run mark in T20 cricket, with Shoaib Malik being the first to do so.
