ISLAMABAD: Senior leadership from the air forces of Pakistan and Bangladesh engaged in comprehensive discussions in Islamabad, focusing on strengthening bilateral cooperation and exploring avenues for potential acquisition of JF-17 Thunder fighter jets. The meeting was confirmed through a release by Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR).
Bangladesh Air Force Chief Air Chief Marshal Hasan Mahmood Khan, accompanied by an esteemed defence delegation, conducted an official visit to Pakistan where he met with Pakistan Air Force Chief Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Babar Sidhu. The visit underscored the importance of fostering closer ties between the two nations’ air forces.
ISPR detailed that the dialogue centered on advancing professional collaboration, emphasizing joint training programs, capacity building, and aerospace technology innovation. Upon arrival, the Bangladeshi delegation was accorded a guard of honor, setting the tone for productive discussions.
During their meeting, Pakistan’s air chief shared insights into recent advancements within the PAF and restated Pakistan’s commitment to supporting the Bangladesh Air Force. This support encompasses robust training initiatives, ranging from basic skills development to advanced technical courses. He assured swift delivery of Super Mushshak trainer aircraft alongside long-term technical assistance and a structured training framework.
The Bangladeshi air chief commended the operational capabilities of the PAF and expressed interest in benefiting from its expertise. He also sought technical collaboration for sustaining Bangladesh’s existing aircraft fleet and integrating air defense radar systems to bolster aerial surveillance capabilities.
Furthermore, detailed talks addressed the prospective acquisition of JF-17 Thunder fighter jets, a versatile combat aircraft co-developed by Pakistan and China. To foster deeper understanding, the Bangladeshi delegation toured key PAF facilities, showcasing technological accomplishments.
