MOSCOW: Former President Bashar al-Assad, who escaped to Russia after the rebels overthrew his government, was poisoned in an assassination attempt in Moscow.
A report by the British newspaper The Sun claimed that Bashar al-Assad was poisoned in an attempt to assassinate him. Online account General SVR (reportedly run by a former Russian top spy), reported that the former Syrian president fell ill on Sunday.
He claimed that 59-year-old Bashar al-Assad sought medical attention when he developed a severe cough and suffocation.
