Beijing calls on Washington to resolve TikTok concerns through constructive dialogue

BEIJING: China announced it will examine issues related to TikTok in accordance with existing laws and regulations, emphasizing its willingness to engage with the United States through respectful and equal dialogue.

A statement from the Chinese Ministry of Commerce highlighted the importance of resolving concerns through communication and mutual understanding.

The U.S. Treasury has indicated that discussions with senior Chinese officials scheduled next week in Madrid will include the future of ByteDance’s popular short-video platform, which faces a possible ban in the U.S. unless it agrees to transfer ownership to American entities.

Meanwhile, U.S. President Donald Trump, who recently launched a TikTok account, has extended the deadline for TikTok to sell its U.S. operations to September 17, signaling ongoing negotiations and regulatory uncertainties surrounding the app.
