New Delhi: It is the biggest upset of the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023 as Afghanistan have defeated defending champion England by 69 runs here in Arun Jaitley Cricket Stadium on Sunday.
Chasing the Afghanistan handsome total of 285 runs, England kept on losing its wickets except Harry Brook who scored half century and useful 66 runs.

Afghanistan bowlers Mujeeb Khan and Rashid Khan have won the show as both got three wickets each while Mujeeb Khan was declared the player of the match for his all rounding performance.
Mujeeb also made 28 runs and got three important wickets of England.

Other bowlers Muhammad Nabi took two wickets while Fazalhaq Farooqui and Naveen Ul Haque took one wicket each.
Three England players could not enter double digits. While others were not scored impressive.
Besides, David Mallan 32 and Adil Rashid 20.

England invited Afghanistan to bat first after winning toss.
Afghanistan played a better innings against the defending champion England as its two players scored half centuries.
Opening batsman Rehmanullah Gurbaz played a splendid innings of 80 runs off 55 balls with eight fours and four sixes with disastrous strike rate of 140.
He was unbeaten but unfortunately he run out on 80 runs.
The first wicket partnership between Rahmanullah Gurbaz and Ibrahim Yazdan was a tremendous total of 114 runs.
Later Ibrahim Yazdan was catch out on a delivery of Rashid after scoring 28 runs.
Ikram Alikhil also made half century while he lost his wicket on 58 runs.
From England side Adil Rashid got three wickets while Mark Wood took two wickets. Besides ,Reece Topley, Liam Livingstone and Joe Root took one wickets each.
