KARACHI: Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari pledged to work with the federation to overcome Pakistan’s economic difficulties and ensure socio-economic justice.
He addressed a large gathering on the 18th death anniversary of Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto, Pakistan’s first female prime minister.
Bilawal described December 27 as a day for collective mourning, reflection, and a renewal of resolve, reiterating PPP’s commitment to constitutional supremacy, parliamentary governance, and social justice.
Bilawal criticized past inflation under PTI and expressed skepticism over current inflation claims by the government. While acknowledging the prevention of an economic default, he noted that public confidence in the government remains low.
Highlighting Sindh’s progress, he praised the province’s advancements in healthcare, claiming its system is now globally comparable despite challenges like recent floods. He called for provinces to take on roles in reforming struggling utilities like Hesco and Sepco to alleviate federal burdens.
Bilawal celebrated Pakistan’s military successes, declaring victory over India in May as a national triumph, credited to sacrifices made by past leaders. He lauded the contributions of both Zulfikar Ali Bhutto and Benazir Bhutto in strengthening Pakistan’s defenses and relations with China.
Reaffirming PPP’s federalist stance, Bilawal pledged to address national issues while protecting provincial autonomy. He highlighted achievements like rejecting controversial proposals against the NFC and passing the 27th Constitutional Amendment. Bilawal concluded by stressing PPP’s commitment to unity and resolving political challenges with a serious focus on both provincial and federal needs.
