ISLAMABAD: Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari on Monday confirmed that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, accompanied by a Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) delegation, met with him and President Asif Ali Zardari to seek their support for the proposed 27th Constitutional Amendment.
In Islamabad, Bilawal shared details of the meeting on X (formerly Twitter), revealing that the PML-N delegation, led by the prime minister, approached the PPP to enlist their backing for the amendment.

According to Bilawal, the proposed amendment aims to establish a Constitutional Court, reinstate the system of executive magistrates, and grant authorities the power to reassign judges.
He further explained that the amendment also suggests the removal of provincial share protection in the National Finance Commission (NFC) and modifications to Article 243 of the Constitution. Additionally, it proposes transferring authority over education and population planning back to the federal government.
Bilawal also highlighted that resolving the current impasse concerning the appointment of the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) is part of the amendment’s objectives.
He announced that the PPP Central Executive Committee (CEC) will convene on November 6 to deliberate on the matter. The party’s official stance on the 27th Amendment will be determined after President Asif Ali Zardari returns from Doha.
