Islamabad: Speaker National Assembly (NA) Ayaz Saddiq has said that the bitterness [between the government and opposition parties] will be resolved by joining hands together.
Addressing the inaugural session of a two-day 18th Speakers Conference, the Speaker said that difference is the beauty of the democracy while a talk is a way of moving forward to remove the differences.
Ayaz Sadiq said that a protest in the NA should be staged remaining in the moral values.
He has underscored the importance of giving equal time and importance to every member, irrespective of party affiliation.
He said patience and giving respect to one another are pre-requisites to ensure smooth functioning of the House.
Commenting on the crucial role of political parties’ whips in the proceedings of the house, the Speaker called for the formation of their association as their role is more important than Ministers.
He further highlighted the role of standing committees in the parliamentary proceedings.
In order to cognizant the youth about the functioning of the parliament, Ayaz Sadiq stressed the need to organize internships for them at the legislative bodies.
“We must institutionalize this forum to ensure continuity, unity, and collective progress,” Sadiq remarked, with a proposal to hold the next conference in Muzaffarabad.
Reaffirming Pakistan’s unwavering support for Kashmir, he declared, “Kashmir remains close to our hearts.”
The 18th two-day Speakers conference began at the Parliament House in Islamabad today.
Speaker National Assembly is presiding over the conference.
Chairman Senate, speakers of all the provincial assemblies, Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Kashmir as well as parliamentary leadership of all the political parties are attending the event.
Addressing the conference, Speaker Sindh Assembly Awais Qadir Shah said the speaker must be impartial, unbiased and neutral for smooth functioning of the house.
He termed the Speaker’s office as a bridge among the members of house.
Awais Qadir Shah called for taking prudent measures to tackle the issue of misinformation.
