NEW DELHI: Counting of votes polled in the recent Lok Sabha election is underway and according to reports reaching here Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is leading the race to form the next government in India, AbbTakk news reported on Thursday.
According to Indian media, among the 542 seats of Lok Sabha counting has been completed on 400 seats and according to the reports of the election commission, BJP led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) is leading the race with 306 seats. However, second leading party Congress and its alliance named (United Progressive Alliance (UPA) has claimed the 105 seats and remaining political parties have claimed 75 seats, added election commission.
On the other hands, recent exit polls also predicted a clear cut victory for Narendra Modi led BJP and its alliance NDA.
However, the counting process is underway amid tight security as a threat alert has already been issued by the ministry of interior.
India’s Lok Sabha polls were started on April 11 and ended on May 19. The polls were divided into seven segments.
