Peshawar: Several persons were stated to be injured in a blast heard near police lines in Peshawar this after noon۔
According to the sources, the police is determining the nature of the blast, whereas causalities are feared.
The blast occurred in-side the mosque situated in the police lions while the blast happened when Zuhar prayer was being offered.
The most among the injured are police personnel. According to sources, 40 persons were sustained injuries while eight of them are critically injured.
The injured are being shifted to the lady reading hospital of the city, while rescue teams have reached the spot.
The police said the blast occurred in the front row of the worshipers offering the Zuhar (afternoon) prayer and it was so powerful that the front portion of the mosque was razed to the ground.
The people in a large number thronged the hospital to inquire about the health of their loved ones and donate blood.
The LRH spokesman, however, urged the families to avoid rushing into the hospital wards so that quick treatment should be provided to the injured.
The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Health Department imposed emergency in all three major hospitals of Peshawar.
The police have surrounded the area around the police lions.
Civil Secretariat home ministry, Provincial Disaster Managment Authority and Central Jail are situated near the Police lines Peshawar
Lady Reading Hospital
As many as 50 injured were brought to the lady reading hospitals from the blast at Police lions mosque.
The Lady Reading Hospital (LRH) apprised that the operations of injured police personnel are being continued in the hospital.
The LRH further apprised that the most of the inured are in critical conditions.
An emergency has been imposed in the lady reading hospital.
Expedite Rescue Activities
Caretaker Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Muhammad Azam Khan has directed to expedite rescue activities to save lives of the injured.
He directed emergency steps for shifting the injured to the hospital immediately.
Muhammad Azam Khan also directed the health authorities to ensure provision of best medical treatment to the injured.
KP Chief Minister Muhammad Azam Khan, meanwhile, strongly condemned the blast and directed the hospital administrations to provide the best treatment to the victims. He also prayed for eternal peace to the martyred and fortitude for their families, besides early recovery of the injured.
