One killed, four judges of lower court injured in Peshawar suicide attack

PESHAWAR: A suspected suicide attack targeted a vehicle of Peshawar High Court (PHC at Sitara Market in Hayatabad area of Peshawar, killing a man and injuring four judges, one male and three female, of the lower court.

The attacker targeted an official vehicle of PHC outside Peshawar Development Authority’s office in Hayatabad.

The driver of the vehicle was killed while four judges of lower judiciary were injured. The judges include Civil Judge Asif Jadoon and three female judges.

PTI MPA while talking to media at the site of the blast said that a man was killed while four judge, one male and four female, were injured.  He said that the target of the bomber was PHC vehicle carrying lower court judges to their homes after duty hours.

SSP Operation Peshawar Sajjad Khan while talking to media confirmed the attack was suicidal. He added that the bomber riding a motorcycle hit the official vehicle in Phase-V of Hayatabad area.  He added that a civil judge and three women were among those injured.

Khan said that body parts of the suspected bomber were collected from the site.

Earlier, Shaukat Yousufzai while talking to AbbTakk News said that as per initial reports the blast appeared to be suicide attack.

Police and paramilitary forces personnel rushed to the site of the blast and cordoned off the area. Ambulances and rescuers also rushed to the site to shift the injured to hospital.

A Spokesmen of Combined Military Hospital (CMH) Peshawar said that a dead body and five injured were brought to hospital.

The attack occurred near Hayatabad Medical Complex, where Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chief was scheduled to attend a programme shortly. However, after the attack Imran Khan cancelled his visit to the Complex to attend the programme.
