Blood of every APS martyr to be avenged: Army Chief

PESHAWAR:  Army Chief General Qamar Bajwa on Friday vowed that they would not rest until the blood of every APS martyr was avenged, adding that the APS tragedy can’t be forgotten.

Addressing the main ceremony held at Army Public Schools Peshawar to remember the martyrs of the gory attack on the school some two year back, the Army chief said that he was himself a father and can better understand the pain and grief of the APS martyrs’ parents.

He added that the pain and grief of the tragedy was very deep but they would try to heal the pains of the affected parents.

The COAS said that Pakistan Army was guarantor of the nation’ security, saying that the Army need the national support and backing so that the country could be made a peaceful country as per Quaid-e-Azam’s vision.

Addressing the ceremony the APS principal said that the sacrifices of the martyr were the beckon of success for them. He added that the martyrs could not be forgotten.

Earlier, the COAS, accompanied by other officials, laid wreaths at Yadgar-e-Shuhda in memory of the martyrs.

Two years ago today, on December 16, 2014  147 people, including 132 schoolchildren, were massacred in the deadliest terrorist attack in Pakistan’s history when terrorists stormed Army Public School in Peshawar Cantonment and started indiscriminately killing everyone in sight.

Besides others the ceremony was also attended by Corps Commander Peshawar Lt Gen Hidayat ur Rehman and Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa  Iqbal Zafar Jhagra  along with students and families of the martyred.
