Bollywood actor Manoj Kumar passes away

WEB DESK: Famous Bollywood actor Manoj Kumar has passed away at the age of 87.

According to Indian media, actor Manoj Kumar was admitted to Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital in Mumbai due to health complications. He passed away on Friday morning due to heart-decease.

Media reports indicate that a certificate issued by doctors also mentioned lung complications as a cause of the actor’s death.

The death of the actor has deeply saddened the film industry, as well as India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who expressed his condolences.

It is notable that actor Manoj Kumar was born in Abbottabad, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan, on July 4, 1937. After the partition of Pakistan and India, his family migrated to India. He made his Bollywood debut in 1957 with the film Fashion. In 1965, his film Gumnam became a huge hit, earning 2.6 crore rupees and achieving massive box-office success.

Additionally, Manoj Kumar won the Best Director award at the 1975 Filmfare Awards for his film Roti Kapda Aur Makaan, and he was also a prominent leader of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

Manoj Kumar is considered one of the most iconic actors in Indian film history. He was awarded India’s highest civilian honor, the Padma Shri, as well as the prestigious Dadasaheb Phalke Award, the highest honor in Indian cinema.
