Book Controversy: Asad Durrani Reaches GHQ: Sources

Rawalpindi (May 28, 2018): Lieutenant General Asad Durrani (Retired) has reached  GHQ for an explanation over his position about his recently written book jointly with Indian Spy chief.

Earlier, Pakistani military expressed reservations over a book written by Lieutenant General (retd) Asad Durrani, former chief of the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI), for stating various topics against the facts, military sources informed.

According to Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), he would be asked to explain his position on views attributed to him in book ‘Spy Chronicles’.

Attribution has been taken as a violation of Military Code of Conduct which is applicable on all serving and retired military personnel.

Durrani, who served as the chief of Pakistan’s premier intelligence agency from August 1990 till March 1992, co-authored the book titled ‘The Spy Chronicles: RAW, ISI and the Illusion of Peace’ with former Indian spy chief AS Dulat. Earlier on Friday, Former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif demanded the formation of a commission to investigate the latest revelations in the book of ex-DG ISI Asad Durani.

Talking to media outside accountability court, Nawaz Sharif said that a parliamentary session should be held on the issue. He promised to form a commission on it and other issues like the abolition of PML (N) government in Balochistan, Senate elections, etc. if his party comes to power.

About Parvez Musharraf, he said that cases against him will not be retracted, rather they will be pursued with full force.

He further said that he is the first one in history to have appeared in more than 70 hearings so far.

“Time for accountability has come, he said,” whoever is doing this to me, the nation is watching.”

He said he is fighting for fundamental rights of all Pakistanis apart from political ones.
