Brexit: British SC rules out govt plea

LONDON: British Supreme Court on Tuesday ruled out government plea and deliver a judgment that the government cannot trigger Article 50 without an Act of Parliament authorizing it to do so.

The judgment means that Theresa May’s government cannot begin talks over Brexit with the European Union until MPs giver their backing. Parliament must vote on whether the government start the Brexit process.

While talking to media outside the SC, British attorney general said the government was disappointed by the judgment but will comply with the verdict.

Critics declare the judgment as a big jolt for the government. Brexit Secretary David Davis vowed to bring the Brexit bill in the parliament within days.
