Islamabad: Adviser to Prime Minister on Accountability Shahzad Akbar has said that the broadsheet company exposed the corrupt elite and their money laundering.
Addressing a presser in Lahore, Shahzad Akbar said that whenever NRO happened it benefited Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N).
He said that Sharif family first had conducted deal with Pervez Musharraf and left abroad adding that there is no difference between PML-N and PPP as both the parties plundered the country.
Shahzad Akbar said that we have a single narrative according to which there should be action against the corruption.
Responding on Maryam Aurangzaib presser, he said that she talked out of facts adding that the opposition parties never ever demanded relief for masses on the FATF.
He said that he was part of the team who negotiated with the opposition regarding accountability he said that the opposition only wanted eradication of the NAB laws. While he said that the opposition parties wanted personal protection.
The adviser said that this is a separate thing whether the broadsheet cooperated with the NAB or not. But on the matter of the broadsheet, the country’s elite used its influence.
He said that we know that there is inflation in the country adding that the people have sent to power and we can’t deceive people. It is not a matter of a national security it is a matter of personal security, he added.
Regarding the NAB, he said the NAB’s recovery is benefiting the masses adding that the NAB performance is applauded by credible national and world institutions and it is matter of pride for the NAB.
