Bull-run continues as index crosses 53,000 points level

KARACHI: The bull-run on Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) continued for the third consecutive day on Wednesday as the benchmark KSE-100 index gained over 900 points in intra-day trade.

The index crossed 53,000 points after it gained over 900 points during morning session.

Experts said that Egyptian investment firm EFG-Hermes formally became part of the Pakistan Stock Exchange as a brokerage firm. They added that investors reacted positively to the developments.

On Tuesday the KSE-100 index recorded 773.46 points (1.51 per cent) gain to close at 52,146.97.

The run up in share prices was led by the eight stocks to be included in the `main board` MSCI Emerging Market Index as investors continued to build positions in those scrips.

The major gainers were MCB which rose 4pc, HBL 1.4pc, UBL 2.2pc and ENGRO 2.1pc, which together contributed 233 points. OGDC hit its upper circuit.
