PESHAWAR: Bushra Bibi, the wife of PTI founder Imran Khan, has reached Peshawar after being released on bail from Adiala Jail following a nine-month incarceration.
According to sources, Bushra Bibi will stay at the annex of the Chief Minister House in Peshawar and is expected to have a check-up at Shaukat Khanum Hospital. She traveled from Bani Gala accompanied by a security team from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar stated that if a deal were to be made, Bushra Bibi would not have spent nine months in jail.
Today, after being granted bail in the Toshakhana Case II, Bushra Bibi’s bail documents were issued by Special Central Judge Shahrukh Arjumand. It is noteworthy that the Islamabad High Court had approved her bail in the Toshakhana Case the previous day.
Despite receiving bail from the High Court, the issuance of the release order was delayed yesterday due to the unavailability of Senior Special Judge Shahrukh Arjumand and the absence of Special Judge Central No. 2 Humayun Dilawar.
Bushra Bibi has been in jail for a total of nine months. She was sentenced to 14 years in prison on January 31 of this year in the Toshakhana case. After the verdict, she voluntarily surrendered herself to the authorities.
Instead of being sent to Adiala Jail, she was transferred to Bani Gala, which the Islamabad Commissioner declared a sub-jail. However, the Islamabad High Court later suspended her sentence in the Toshakhana case.
