ISLAMABAD: A well-known businessman, Amir Awan, linked with Toyota Motors, was killed in a robbery incident at a farmhouse located in Orchard Scheme, Shahzad Town, Islamabad, officials confirmed.
According to police records, the incident took place on the night of March 30, 2026, when a group of five to six armed men reportedly breached the farmhouse by cutting through its outer fence.
Surveillance footage indicates that the intruders subdued the on-duty security guard and confined him inside a room before entering the main residential area by breaking through a window grille.
Police said the attackers opened fire after encountering resistance from Awan, leaving him seriously wounded. He was first taken to the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) and later moved to Shifa International Hospital, where he passed away. Officials stated that the suspects escaped after looting cash and other valuables from the property.
Forensic experts and police teams have gathered evidence from the scene, and a manhunt is currently in progress. CCTV clips circulating online show masked individuals carrying weapons as they enter the premises.
Authorities have formed six to seven investigation teams to probe the case from multiple angles. While one team is analyzing forensic material, others are working on identifying the culprits through video evidence and intelligence.
The case has been registered under sections related to armed robbery, including Section 397. Police believe the incident appears to be a robbery attempt, with no clear signs of personal rivalry so far.
Minister of State for Interior Talal Chaudhry described the case as serious and assured that full details would be made public after the investigation. He also noted a general decline in Islamabad’s crime rate this year and pledged that those responsible would face justice.
Police officials emphasized that the investigation is ongoing and more updates will be shared as the case develops.
