KARACHI: In the wake of the passing of former Sindh Assembly Speaker Agha Siraj Durrani, the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has unveiled the schedule for the upcoming by-election in the PS-9 Shikarpur-III seat that has become vacant.
As outlined in the official notice, candidates can submit their nomination papers between November 3 and November 5. The first list of approved candidates will be released on November 6, with the nomination scrutiny scheduled for November 11.
Candidates wishing to challenge the Returning Officer’s decisions may file appeals until November 15, and the tribunal will deliver rulings by November 22. The final list of candidates will be published on November 23, with withdrawals permitted until November 24.
Election symbols will be allocated on November 25, and the polling is scheduled for December 14.
The ECP has also designated key officials for the election process. Abdul Waheed Baloch, Regional Election Commissioner Larkana, will serve as the District Returning Officer, while Anwar Hussain Khaskheli, Assistant Commissioner Garhi Yasin, has been appointed as the Returning Officer.
