CCD seeks 290 kanal land, Rs11 billion funds to strengthen crime prevention efforts in punjab

LAHORE: The Crime Control Department (CCD) has formally approached the Punjab government with a comprehensive proposal to enhance its operational capacity, requesting 290 kanals of land, a budget of Rs11 billion, and the recruitment of 10,000 additional personnel.

Sources within the department confirmed that the CCD’s proposal includes plans to develop police lines on the designated land, with the funds allocated for building 38 new police stations and residential facilities for officers.

In addition, the department has called for the procurement of 100 state-of-the-art drones and ten German-manufactured locators to upgrade its surveillance and intelligence-gathering capabilities. Officials emphasized that these resources are crucial to dismantling organized crime networks and establishing a stronger law enforcement presence across Punjab.

It has been highlighted that current infrastructure and manpower are inadequate to counter the rising tide of gang-related and criminal activities in the province. The proposed expansion aims to boost operational efficiency and ensure comprehensive coverage by CCD units throughout Punjab.

The department’s move underscores the urgent need for enhanced resources to combat organized crime effectively and restore law and order in the region.
