ISLAMABAD: Footage from CCTV cameras capturing the recent suicide bombing near the Islamabad Kacheri has come to light. The video depicts a police vehicle arriving at the vicinity of the district courts just moments before a devastating explosion tore through the area. In the footage, a lawyer can be observed walking past the vehicle mere seconds prior to the blast.
According to police officials, the bomber lingered near the security gate for approximately 10 to 15 minutes before triggering the explosives. The blast ignited nearby vehicles, causing widespread fires and significant destruction. Emergency response teams swiftly arrived at the scene, with police and security personnel cordoning off the area. The injured were transported to the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS), where hospital sources report that several victims are in critical condition, raising concerns that the death toll may increase.
In the aftermath of the attack, Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi visited the site outside the Islamabad G-11 district courts. He instructed authorities to expedite search operations and ensure a thorough investigation is conducted. During his visit, Islamabad Police Chief Inspector General Ali Nasir Rizvi briefed the minister about the incident. Senior officials, including Chief Commissioner Muhammad Ali Randhawa, were also present.
Minister Naqvi condemned the attack, alleging it was supported by Indian intelligence and backed by the Afghan Taliban, carried out by the extremist group Khawarij. He described the act as a cowardly act of terrorism and expressed his sorrow over the loss of life. Naqvi assured that those responsible must be swiftly apprehended and that a comprehensive report on the investigation would be submitted.“The perpetrators must be brought to justice promptly. An in-depth investigation must be completed and the findings shared,” the minister emphasized.
