CDF Asim Munir condemn attacks on Saudi Infrastructure, warn of risks to Middle East peace

RAWALPINDI: Pakistan’s top military leadership on Tuesday strongly criticized recent assaults on Saudi Arabia’s petrochemical and industrial sites, describing them as unnecessary provocations that could jeopardize ongoing diplomatic efforts to achieve peace in the Middle East. The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) issued a statement highlighting these concerns.

The remarks came during the 274th Corps Commanders’ Conference held at Pakistan Army’s General Headquarters in Rawalpindi, led by Chief of Army Staff (COAS) and Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) Field Marshal Asim Munir. The gathering underscored the importance of restraint and diplomatic channels in maintaining regional stability.

“The forum expressed deep concern over and unequivocally condemned the recent attacks on Saudi Arabia’s energy and industrial sectors,” the ISPR’s statement read. “Such unwarranted acts of aggression undermine sincere efforts to resolve conflicts through peaceful means and threaten the fragile environment conducive to diplomacy.”

The statement also emphasized that Saudi Arabia’s measured response and restraint, despite provocations, have played a vital role in enabling dialogue and mediation. However, the military leadership warned that further aggressive actions could have serious repercussions, risking the progress made toward peace.

Earlier in the day, Pakistan’s Foreign Office condemned Iran’s attacks on Saudi energy infrastructure, calling them a “grave violation” of Saudi sovereignty and a “dangerous escalation” in the ongoing Middle East conflict.Pakistan and Saudi Arabia’s strategic partnership was reaffirmed last year through a “Mutual Defence Agreement,” which states that any attack on one country will be considered an act of aggression against both.

The ISPR also paid tribute to fallen soldiers, law enforcement personnel, and civilians who sacrificed their lives in defense of the nation. The forum reaffirmed that their sacrifices form the foundation of Pakistan’s national security. Field Marshal Munir praised the armed forces for their professionalism, operational readiness, and ongoing counter-terrorism efforts. He stressed that, through coordinated efforts between the government, military, and people, Pakistan is strengthening its security, economic resilience, and regional stature.

The military leadership reviewed the internal and external security landscape, reaffirming the commitment to eliminate terrorist proxies backed by India and other external actors. The operation “Ghazab lil-Haq” will continue until terrorist safe havens and hostile activities on Afghan soil are decisively eliminated.

The forum welcomed the government’s efforts to de-escalate tensions in the Middle East and reiterated Pakistan’s role as a responsible regional stakeholder advocating peace, stability, and constructive dialogue. Disinformation campaigns and baseless allegations by India, including false narratives about Kashmir, were condemned as unfounded and internationally discredited. The forum also expressed concern over human rights violations and extrajudicial killings in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK).

In his closing remarks, COAS Munir directed commanders to uphold the highest standards of operational excellence, professionalism, and adaptability. He voiced full confidence in Pakistan’s armed forces to defend sovereignty and territorial integrity against all threats.
