CDF Asim Munir insists lasting peace in Afghanistan depends on Taliban’s renunciation of terrorist support

S.WAZIRISTAN: Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, NI (M), HJ, Chief of Army Staff (COAS) & Chief of the Defence Forces (CDF), visited Wana in South Waziristan on Wednesday to assess the current security situation and operational readiness along Pakistan’s western border, according to a statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).

During the visit, the Field Marshal laid a floral wreath at the Shuhada Monument to honor the martyrs who sacrificed their lives in defense of the nation. He offered Fateha and reaffirmed that the sacrifices of these martyrs remain the foundation of Pakistan’s security and resilience.

The COAS was briefed comprehensively about the prevailing security environment, ongoing intelligence-driven operations, and border management strategies. Particular attention was given to the progress of Operation Ghazab lil Haq and recent developments along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border.

While interacting with officers and soldiers stationed in forward areas, the Field Marshal praised their professionalism, alertness, and high morale amid ongoing tensions. He commended their dedication to protecting Pakistan’s sovereignty and maintaining regional peace and stability.

The COAS emphasized that any use of Afghan territory by extremist groups such as Fitna al Khawarij and Fitna al Hindustan to carry out acts of terrorism against Pakistan would be completely unacceptable.
