RAWALPINDI: Field Marshal and Chief of Defence Forces Syed Asim Munir chaired the 273rd Corps Commanders Conference in Rawalpindi, marking a decisive stance against threats to national security.
The gathering opened with prayers (Fateha) for fallen heroes—soldiers, law enforcement personnel, and innocent civilians—who sacrificed their lives fighting terrorism and defending Pakistan’s sovereignty. Field Marshal Munir paid tribute to the unwavering dedication, professionalism, and sacrifices of Pakistan’s armed forces, acknowledging their recent success in counter-terrorism operations bolstered by intelligence and national unity.
A comprehensive assessment of Pakistan’s internal and external security landscape was undertaken, emphasizing the evolving nature of threats and the importance of operational preparedness. The forum explicitly condemned the links between terrorism, crime, and political agendas, asserting that any attempt to weaken national unity or divide the military from the Pakistani people would not be tolerated.
The participants reaffirmed Pakistan’s stance that terrorists, supported and facilitated by Indian sponsors, would be dealt with decisively. They also appreciated developmental initiatives in Balochistan aimed at local empowerment and social stability, advocating for similar efforts across other regions in line with the National Action Plan for long-term peace.
On international issues, the forum expressed strong support for the Kashmiri people’s right to self-determination and reiterated Pakistan’s principled position on Palestine. Calls were made for an immediate ceasefire and humanitarian access to Gaza, along with a clear pathway toward Palestinian statehood.
In closing, COAS & CDF Munir emphasized the importance of maintaining high standards of readiness, discipline, and technological innovation among military personnel. He expressed confidence in the Pakistan Army’s capacity to counter all forms of threats—conventional, unconventional, hybrid, or asymmetric—while safeguarding the nation’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
