RAWALPINDI: Chief of Defence Staff (CDF) and Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Asim Munir declared that no terrorist or their accomplices will go unpunished as he visited Quetta in the aftermath of recent terror assaults across Balochistan, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) reported.
During his visit, General Munir was briefed on the current security situation and ongoing internal security operations. The ISPR statement highlighted that the briefing addressed recent terrorist incidents carried out by India-supported, internationally-designated terrorists of Fitna al-Hindustan, and the swift, decisive response by security forces that thwarted their attempts to destabilize peace and development in the region.
Recent coordinated attacks by militants linked to India-backed groups resulted in the martyrdom of 22 soldiers and 36 civilians, according to security sources. On January 31, terrorists targeted civilians and security forces in multiple locations including Quetta, Mastung, Nushki, Dalbandin, Kharan, Panjgur, Tump, Gwadar, and Pasni. In response, a major crackdown has led to the elimination of 197 militants in the province.
During the visit, discussions also focused on measures to reinforce the authority of the state and safeguard citizens and vital infrastructure. The military leadership reaffirmed their resolve that terrorists and their facilitators will face strict action under the law, emphasizing that violence and terrorism cannot be justified under any circumstances.
Field Marshal Munir applauded the professionalism, bravery, and sacrifices of law enforcement personnel for countering hostile anti-Pakistan efforts and maintaining peace. He, along with the Balochistan Chief Minister, also visited the Combined Military Hospital (CMH) in Quetta, where he met with injured military personnel, FC Balochistan, and police officers.
The COAS praised the high morale and steadfastness of security forces, commending their dedication in defending the nation from foreign-sponsored terrorists. Upon arrival, he was received by Commander Quetta Corps.
