Quetta (July 11, 2018): Chairman NAB Justice Retired Javed Iqbal on Wednesday has said that the Anti-Graft body will not tolerate any hurdles in its commitment to rooting out corruption.

Addressing an event today, the bureau chief said it is time to unite against corruption and eliminate the menace from the country.

“NAB is performing its duty to root out corruption in a transparent manner. The bureau has no need to interfere in politics or elections, it has no need to carry out vengeful activities against anyone.”

Iqbal dismissed the allegations against the anti-graft body as “baseless” and said the bureau receives approximately 250 complaints against corruption every day.

“Accountability will be from the top, and it will be indiscriminate. No obstacles will be tolerated in our [mission] to eliminate the cancer of corruption,” he continued.

Billions of rupees had been looted from the country and stowed away abroad, the chairman lamented, adding that the accountability bureau was doing its best to bring stolen wealth back to Pakistan.He pointed out that NAB has not taken any measures that could hurt the economy.

NAB Recovers Rs. 296 Billion From Corrupt Persons:

Earlier on July 10, Chairman, National Accountability Bureau(NAB), Justice (Retd) Javed Iqbal said the Bureau would continue playing its role for preventing corruption in important projects including China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).

The Chairman, who visited Balochistan Bureau to review its performance, said CPEC guarantees country’s economic progress and prosperity.He said progress in Balochistan would have far-reaching impacts on the national economy.

The Chairman said corruption in pat feeder canal would be unearthed and people responsible will be identified while looted money would be recovered.

NAB would continue to apprehend culprits and deposit looted money in national exchequer. This would increase foreign exchange to help complete important projects on time.

He directed to take corruption cases to logical conclusion and added looted money of Balochistan people has been recovered and returned to provincial government.

The Chairman said NAB does not have any link with elections. The mandate of the NAB is to apprehend the culprits without any discrimination.NAB has so far deposited record Rs. 296 billion after recovering from the corrupt.

The elimination of corruption would expedite economic activities. This would make Balochistan prosperous and country as well.

Reiterating zero-tolerance policy against corruption, Justice Javed Iqbal said NAB would continue pursuing Accountability for All.

Terming corruption as the main curse plaguing the country, he said NAB would continue actions against the corrupt besides enhancing awareness about the corruption in educational institutions.
