Chief of Turkish General Staff meets with field marshal Syed Asim Munir to discuss defence collaboration

RAWALPINDI: General Selcuk Bayraktaroglu, the Chief of the Turkish General Staff, paid a visit to Pakistan and called on Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, COAS and CDF, at the General Headquarters (GHQ) today.

On arrival, he was welcomed with a guard of honour by a well-drilled contingent of the Pakistan Armed Forces.  

During their discussions, both leaders explored a range of topics including mutual interests, the current regional and global security environment, and opportunities for enhancing bilateral defence and military cooperation. They expressed satisfaction with the progress of Pakistan-Turkiye relations and emphasized the importance of maintaining close coordination and expanding defence partnerships.

Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir underscored the deep-rooted brotherly bonds between Pakistan and Turkey, built on shared history, trust, and strong cultural ties. He acknowledged and appreciated the support and cooperation from the Turkish Armed Forces and reiterated Pakistan’s dedication to further strengthening military-to-military relations.

General Selcuk Bayraktaroglu conveyed his thanks for the warm reception and praised the professionalism of the Pakistan Armed Forces. He reaffirmed Turkey’s commitment to deepening defence collaborations, including joint training programs, exercises, and capacity-building initiatives.

This visit underscores the strengthened strategic alliance between Pakistan and Turkey, highlighting their mutual dedication to regional peace, stability, and security.
