KARACHI: A child who fell in a drain in the city’s Landhi area on Sunday could not be taken out of it even after several attempts by residents of the area for seventeen long hours.
According to details, a nine-year-old child named Arif, who was playing with his friends near a rain drain in Landhi area fell right into it.
Area residents have been busy searching for the kid in the drain, but no success has been achieved in their efforts till the last reports came in. Heap of trash in the drain has made it extremely difficult to search and ultimately get Arif out of the drain.
On this occasion, residents claimed that tons of trash gets stored in the drain as it is not cleaned throughout the year.
“Trash in the rain drain is not cleaned through the year due to which such accidents keep on happening. Not very long ago, another kid fell and died in the drain, but no pertaining authority is taking notice of the situation”, said the residents of Landhi.
