GAZA: Humanitarian crisis in Gaza has deepened as thousands of Palestinian children face alarming levels of malnutrition amid Israel’s ongoing blockade, the United Nations has warned.
Since early March, when Israel imposed a comprehensive blockade restricting the flow of food, water, medicine, and other essential supplies, conditions have deteriorated rapidly.
UNICEF reports that over 9,000 children have been admitted for treatment of acute malnutrition so far this year, highlighting the escalating health emergency among the vulnerable population.
The organization’s Executive Director, Catherine Russell, condemned the situation, stating, “Children in Gaza are enduring relentless bombardments while being deprived of basic necessities and lifesaving care. Each day of this aid blockade increases their risk of starvation, disease, and death. Nothing can justify this suffering.”
International communities continue to voice strong opposition to Israel’s blockade, which has effectively cut off all humanitarian aid routes into Gaza since March 2, prompting widespread condemnation and calls for immediate action to address the growing crisis.
