China condemns Balochistan attacks, reaffirms support for Pakistan in fight against terrorism

ISLAMABAD: China has strongly denounced the recent coordinated terrorist attacks in Balochistan, reaffirming its unwavering support for Pakistan’s efforts to combat terrorism.

During a regular press briefing, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian condemned the violence and expressed condolences for those affected.“China condemns these attacks in the strongest terms. Our sympathies are with the families of the victims, and we mourn the loss of lives,” Jian stated. He emphasized China’s firm stance against all forms of terrorism and reiterated its commitment to supporting Pakistan in maintaining stability, fighting terrorism, and ensuring the safety of its citizens.

The Chinese embassy in Pakistan also issued a statement condemning the recent terrorist activities, expressing deep sorrow over the casualties and extending sympathies to the victims and their families. Several countries, including the United States, the European Union, and Iran, also condemned the attacks.

According to Pakistan’s Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), security forces neutralized 92 terrorists on Saturday during operations in Quetta and multiple other locations across Balochistan, where coordinated assaults had taken place. The military reported that 15 security personnel were martyred and 18 civilians lost their lives in these clashes.

ISPR attributed the attacks to militants linked to what it termed as Indian-backed “Fitna al Hindustan,” which aims to destabilize the region. The assaults targeted police stations, government buildings, and financial institutions in various districts including Quetta, Mastung, Nushki, Dalbandin, Kharan, Panjgur, Tump, Gwadar, and Pasni.

Specific incidents included attacks on police facilities in Quetta’s Sariab area, arson at banks in Hazarganji, and the killing of prominent local leader Mullazai Qaumi Etihad chairperson along with security guards in Kharan. In Tump, a former tehsildar was shot dead resisting kidnapping attempts, while in Mastung and Kalat, terrorists attacked police stations and set government offices ablaze, freeing prisoners in the process.

Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi blamed India for supporting the militants, alleging that India provides funding, strategic planning, and logistical support to destabilize Pakistan through these terrorist acts.
