ISLAMABAD: Two Chinese Companies have submitted the application for slaughterhouse and licenses for export donkey meat from Pakistan.
The Ministry of Food Security officials stated that a thorough investigation is underway regarding the license requests. Once regulations are completed, donkey meat and bones will be allowed for export to China.
Officials mentioned that the donkey meat and bones will be exported from Balochistan via Gwadar, which is expected to generate significant foreign exchange for Pakistan.
The Ministry of Food Security clarified that the meat will only be prepared in Gwadar and not elsewhere, emphasizing that no donkey meat will be produced outside of Gwadar. There are concerns that donkey meat might be supplied to the local market.
Additionally, authorities revealed that illegal donkey meat production was being carried out in Islamabad, where a foreign national was operating without a license.
