Cipher case hearing to be held at Adyala jail instead of FJC under police report: special court verdict

Rawalpindi: A special court, which is formed under an official security act, pronounced that the hearing of the next trial of the cipher case will be held in Jail.

Today hearing was held at Islamabad’s Federal Judicial Complex (FJC) under the IHC ruling.

The court passed the verdict over a police report refusing to present the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan in the court over security threats to the PTI chief life.

Judge of the special court Abul Hasnat Zulqarnain heard the cipher case.

At the onset of the hearing a jail superintended refused to present the former premier Imran Khan in the court over security threats to the accused while the Police also presented its report regarding threats to the accused.

Chairman PTI counsel Salman Safdar said what such incident happened here which is a cause of threat adding terrorists were brought from Adyala jail daily.

He said that the Islamabad High Court (IHC) has annulled the hearing in the jail. While he questioned that will Superintendent of jail decide regarding existence of security fears or not. He said “the jail superintendent is showing his incompetency and he should tender his resignation.”

He said that the superintendent jail has violated the IHC ruling and your’s orders as well.

He contended that if the IHC and a session court verdicts are not being admitting so should we got to the Supreme Court?

The trial can’t run in the jail and here as well where this trial will be held? He said that if there is a threat to the life of the accused the hearing of the trial be adjourned indefinite period.

He also insisted the court to give bails to the PTI chief and Shah Mahmood Qureshi.

Shah Mahmood Qureshi counsel Ali Bukhari insisted the court to present his client in the court.

Judge Abul Hasnat Zulqarnain said that nothing matters how many notification you brought to the court adding that people and media should have access to the court and there will be no compromise on it.

After hearing the arguments of both the sides the court reserved the verdict on the police report.

After half an hour the court pronounce the verdict that the cipher case next hearing will be held at Adyala jail in the light of the police report.
