Islamabad: Honourble Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Gulzar Ahmed will retire today after completing his tenure while he remained Chief Justice for two years period.
As per report, a full court reference will start at 11.30 am. Attorney General, representatives of Pakistan bar will attend the full court reference.
Justice Gulzar Ahmed performed his duties as Chief Justice for two years and 10 days. The era of Chief Justice Gulzar Ahmed was challenging due to coronavirus and historical as well owing to his historical verdicts.
Justice Gulzar Ahmed ordered to demolish Nasla Tower whose some side was constructed on footpath, removing encroachments from Gujjar Nala, construction of marriage halls of indemnity plots and eradicating encroachments on Karachi highway and footpaths.
His verdicts for restoration of Karachi Circular Railway (KCR), measures for rights of minorities and restoration of local bodies in Punjab regarded as a major verdicts.
Justice Gulzar Ahmed have given verdicts for prevention of environmental pollution. He also called Prime Minister Imran Khan in the case of army public school attack and ordered to end reservation of families of the children.
He also took suo-motu notices for government measures of coronavirus, breast cancer including Rahim Yar Khan temple, Kiruk temple, Kohat attack.
Chief Justice remained interested to increase women judges in the courts and that is the reason he played a vital role for making Justice Ayesha Malik as a first woman judge of the Supreme Court of Pakistan.
