PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Muhammad Sohail Afridi inaugurated the Peshawar Ring Road Northern Section Package One. Under the project, a 2.1-km long missing link has been completed at a cost of Rs 2 billion.
Work is underway on packages three of Ring Road from Warsak Road to Nasir Bagh Road. The total cost of the Northern Section Phase One is Rs 9.6 billion. Tenders for missing link phase two and phase three have been issued. Projects worth Rs 171 billion out of Rs 200 billion under the Peshawar Revitalization Project have been approved.Package one of the missing link of the Ring Road has been completed while work is also underway on other packages.
Addressing the inauguration ceremony, Chief Minister Sohail Afridi said Peshawar Revitalization Project is a comprehensive development package worth Rs 200 billion which will improve the overall condition of the city. Chief Minister Sohail Afridi said PTI government has given the people of Peshawar the gift of first BRT and now the Revitalization Project. Peshawar is the capital of the province and its beauty reflects the entire province. Chief Minister Sohail Afridi said that the feasibility study of the Outer Ring Road project will also be completed soon. Chief Minister said there is an open challenge to those criticizing the revitalization project that if there is evidence of corruption, then bring it forward, immediate action will be taken.
He said that NFC share was being distributed unconstitutionally and the merged districts are not being given their rights. If the NFC is revised, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s share could increase from 14.6 percent to 19 percent. About Rs500 billion of the province is being distributed elsewhere annually and now a new era is being started for the rights of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, for which all political parties will be taken along.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is producing 400 MMCFD gas, out of which only 150 is used while the remaining 250 is being given to other provinces. Although according to the constitution, the first right belongs to the province. Similarly, the electricity production is also more than the requirement and the excess electricity is being provided to other provinces.
